I'm putting out a feeler for my very rare 50 watt Bogner Ecstacy 6L6 version (not EL 34 like most) with all of the bells and whistles including Class A/AB switch, New/Old switch, metal grill and the Bogner pedal. Amp also comes with a nice form-fitted nylon cover.

I called and spoke with Shawn at Bogner a few years ago something else and asked about the amp. I was told that he was only aware of a few like this that were ever made.

The amp is in great shape functionally and cosmetically. It sounds great especially on the Blue channel in class "A" mode.

I'm not 100% sure I want to sell it but I thought I'd put this out there to see if there's any interest. To comply with the DG rules, I'll put an asking price in of $3,400.

Let me know if there's any interest.

Might want to move this down to the For Sale forums.
Rarity in an amp is rarely (see what I did there?) a selling point. That's especially true with smaller manufacturers (before his agreement to supply GC with chinese-made production amps, every amp Bruce Egnater built was essentially a one-off).

Thanks for the suggestion of moving this to the for sale section.

Regarding rare amps not being a noteworthy attribute, I'm not sure I agree. Rare amps like the white chassis Bogner 100, Trainwreck, Dumble all seem to be more desirable than others (i.e. Cheap Chinese Egnator).

I'd say the difference is between a quality desirable amp, and a cheap piece of junk.

BTW. I tried to add a post to the For Sale thread and found that it, along with some others were not working and kicking up an error. I'm trying to find a way to notify the mods for the site.

Good point. A quality amp should be worth more than a cheap piece of junk. That said, rarity and value in guitars OR amplifiers don't necessarily go hand in hand. It's easy enough to build a small run or even a one-off and point to it as being "rare." In almost every case, there are other factors that make it expensive.

An old Rickenbacker Transonic, for example, is rare because it wasn't very desirable in its day as an amp. But it has collector interest because it was used by Led Zep and because it has a strange shape, a slightly unexpected manufacturer and some historical marker reference.

Boutique amplifiers are, almost by definition, supposed to be rare or at least semi-exclusive. But there are a ton of them out there. And this was my point. There's almost a glut of good tube amps, hand-wired, modified, high quality, etc. on today's market, and many of them are rare/exclusive/oneoffs in reference to a single manufacturer/builder. With reference to the overall market, however, not so much.

Thank you for your input. I'll be sure to mark you down as clearly not interested in the amp. :)
