So guys, I have myself here at home an Epiphone Les Paul Standard and I was playing around with it. What I want out of this little guitar is a solid rock tone. The equipment I have is a little 1x8 Amp, a Marshall 1ow combo amp to be specific. There isn't much to the amp. There is a dial for the "Clean" volume, and then a button to turn on distortion and dials to raise "Gain", "Volume", and "Contour". Also, I know that the best tone always comes from the guitar, but whenever I play around with the knobs, I can't really get the sound I'm looking for I usually play with both pickups turned on as well. I'm looking for a guitar tone similar to that of the song "Supersonic" by Oasis. I just really like the driving tone as well as the solo tone. I was wondering if you guys might know how to get as close to that as possible. Other tones I like are guitar tones found in "Black Magic Woman" (Santana), "These Walls" (Dream Theater) and George Harrison's Solo Tone from "The End" (The Beatles)....

Hey guys, so I got myself an electric just because I've itching to learn to play it. I can play it decently now, the problem is that when I solo, I get stuck at the B string. Bass was the first type of guitar I learned so I know how to solo pretty well on the first 4 strings, but the B string gets me every time. What can I do?
P.S. Going from High E to B isn't a problem, just G to B

You guys seen this?
An admirable performance, but what really struck me was how he switching between finger style and plectrum so quickly. I had to look really closely to see what he was doing with the pick.
That trick was new to me, and I'm always trying to figure out how to switch back and forth like that. John Mayer's kind of a weirdo that likes to do his own thing though.
